I think of my recent body of work as a conversation I’m having with myself, a result of the aftermath of the Covid shutdown and the increasing virtuality of our world. Like previous work the imagery is grounded in landscape, desire and the notion of botanical sentience. I have always saved lots of stuff - studio detritus, interesting trash, failed paintings, dead flowers etc. My studio is like an archeological midden, very hermetic, where I am digging up pieces and inspiration from my past and present, reworking and reinventing the images to be a current expression. My studio opens into a slightly overgrown garden and it’s as if the plants are participating in making the art.
These pieces are enamel paint and acrylic spray paint on Sennelier paper and translucent vellum.
